Switch operating device for points and traffic lights SODPTL-0060

Purpose and scope

The device for remote tram switching and traffic lights switching SODPTL-0060 is designed: 1) for tram switching according to commands given by the tram drivers manually by pressing the button or toggle switch, 2) for switching the traffic lights at the crossing of tram rails with the automobile road.

The device can be installed on all types of transport.

The device is able to work with various gears of switching of points and traffic lights.

The work with the railway drive SP-6M (photo 6) was verified experimentally.

Useful features and advantages of the switch operating device for traffic lights:

- easy, simple and reliable management,

- higher interference immunity in comparison with other, e.g. radio-channel control systems,

- small dimensions.

The advantage of the automated traffic lights switching at the crossroads (in comparison with the crossroads equipped with the simple traffic light) lies in the increasing of the traffic capacity.

The absence of natural and industrial interference in the infrared channel of data transmission, using the redundancy in digital encoding and decoding of control command signals, galvanic isolation of the power supply circuit of the antenna and relay unit provide high interference protection of the entire device.

Implementation.

From Feb. 2015 the system has been being used in Ulan-Ude (photos 7-9). There SODPTL works with the railroad point operating gear – SP-6M (photo 6). The feedback on the work can be obtained from the chief engineer of the enterprise Yuri Ermakov tel. 8-3012-43-31-72.

From the winter 2010 until the summer 2013 SODPTL-0060 passed successful tests at the enterprise “Nizhegorodelektrotrans”. The pilot project was started on the switch Osharskaya – Belinskogo streets and was successfully operating.

Note. The main components of UDPSS (vehicle unit device, control point antenna, interface card) were operating for more than 5 years on the buses and control points of the Automated Dispatch Management System of the enterprise Nizhegorodpassazhirtrans.

They were the part of the peripheral equipment of the Automated Dispatch Management System of the urban public transport “Fara-0050” and its modernized variant “Fara-0080”. More than 70 control points were put into operation in the city and the equipment was installed on more than 2500 buses.

During the testing in Minsk and Penza these components were integrated with the available peripheral equipment: Automated Dispatch Management System and Nezhan respectively. The testing confirmed that these components have high parameters.

The issue of introducing the products into the Automated Dispatch Management System in these cities was almost settled, but finally the preference was given to the satellite navigation.

Design and principle of operation.

The switch operating device for points and traffic lights SODPTL-0060 operates on the basis of infrared control commands transferred from the transmitter (VUD-0061, photo 1), located on the tram, to the antenna of the control point or railroad switch (CPA-0062, photo 2), located on the extension of the current-carrying wire of the tram line, which then are decoded by the control unit (CU-0060, photo 4) and fed to the executive unit – railroad point operating gear (photo 5).

The coding and control panel CCP-0055 (photo 3) is used for the prompt checkup and programming of VUD (if required) and for checking the antenna path of the control point and control unit.

VUD-0061 is located under the windshield and is constantly on. VUD generates a unique tram number (from 1 to 2048) and neutral control command.

When the driver presses the “LEFT” or “RIGHT” control button, the VUD transmits the code information infrared signal to switch points to the left or to the right, which is received by the infrared antenna CPA-0062 and further decoded by the control unit CU-0060 (please refer to pic. 1).

Note: instead of buttons, it is allowed to use a toggle switch with a fixed state, which will allow the driver to set the direction of points switching in advance in order to avoid any manipulations when passing the points.

The control unit CU-0060 provides the generation of the corresponding control signals to the mover of the points, ensuring the closure of normally open contacts of the corresponding “right” and “left” relay. The control unit has a toggle switch to prohibit or permit blocking of the arrow until the tram approaches the second antenna behind the points.

The neutral command, which is transferred from the transmitter VUD constantly, can be used for the automatic switching of traffic lights (photo 6). The traffic lights will switch automatically, as soon as the tram approaches the antenna installed in front of it.

Warranty

The warranty period of operation – 1 year. The warranty period is determined from the date of sale, subject to the consumer observing the conditions of operation, transportation and storage.

Average lifetime of the products – not less than 7 years.
